Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI, is technology that enables computers and machines to behave and interact like a human, imitating the human thought process. In today’s rapidly evolving world, AI is transforming industries and enhancing our daily lives. From automating routine tasks to solving complex problems, AI has applications in various disciplines worldwide. So, how is AI used in the world today?

AI has made significant contributions to the healthcare industry. AI assists in developing personalized treatment plans based on individual genetic and health data. It chooses and designs drugs that tailor best to the patient, predicting any side effects, identifying ideal candidates, and calculating precise doses.
Hospitals also use AI through robotic machinery to assist with surgical operations. Surgeons use these robots to magnify the view of the surgical site, allowing them to more precisely proceed with the operation. Another use of robotic machinery is to make extremely small incisions. These new procedures actually have resulted in faster recovery times and fewer complications after surgery.

AI diagnostics technology increases the accuracy of medical image analysis, aiding in the early detection of diseases. The ability of AI to aid in health diagnoses also improves the speed and accuracy of patient visits, leading to faster and more personalized care. This also allows for medical professionals to treat more patients on a daily basis.
Health monitoring apps and devices use AI to track and analyze health data, providing insights and trends. It detects patterns and predicts potential health issues before they become critical, providing time to intervene before a person’s health becomes worse. For instance, AI can track vital signs, identify irregularities in heart rhythms, or monitor glucose levels, alerting both patients and healthcare providers to potential problems.
AI has also impacted the transportation industry. Autonomous vehicles use advanced AI to navigate and make decisions in real-time, aiming to enhance safety and efficiency. While they have not been fully implemented into the world yet, autonomous vehicles definitely will be prominent in the future. AI is also used in the common navigation apps such as Apple Maps and Google Maps. These navigation tools use AI algorithms to optimize the best routes and estimate traffic and congestion conditions.

AI has also influenced many businesses. Chatbots are used by these companies to strengthen their customer services. They interact with customers and answer the more general questions, adapting to certain responses to output the most relevant information to the customer as possible. Online shopping businesses also utilize AI to personalize customer experience. These systems use algorithms to learn more about a customer’s preferences and predict what kind of products they would want to shop for based on their browsing and shopping history. If you’ve shopped on Amazon for example, you have probably seen the section that says “Based on your shopping history” or something along those lines.

AI also has implications in education. Adaptive learning and assessment platforms are extremely helpful for students who need to perform at their own pace. These programs tailor educational content and assessments to a student's learning style and needs.

Looking ahead, artificial intelligence will continue to evolve, with improvements in capabilities and integration into everyday life. It’s crucial to focus on developing AI responsibly, ensuring it benefits society while addressing ethical concerns. I hope you learned something new! Keep a lookout for the next post!
